When Hsui Tai contacted Mike, thought to be the lost god Kishnu, the Sage ordered him found so that he could be re-born

The Sage ordered John killed in the Hsui Tai and Mike's re-birth ceremony. This convinced Matsu Tan to try to stop the ceremony. It also convinced Hsui Tai that she and Mike would not be re-born, so she released herself and rescued John and Mike.
