A new Tomorrow Person, Mike, open Mr. O'Reilly's door using telekinesis. John returned from the Galactic Trig to the dusty and cobweb covered Lab. Mr. O'Reilly receives a visit from Two Tone and Slow. They want to collect the money that Mr. O'Reilly owes from gambling at Lord Dunning's betting shops. To protect himself and his cat, Mr. O'Reilly told them about Mike's ability to open locks. Elizabeth arrived back at the Lab. Stephen arrived back at the Lab. Mr. O'Reilly brought Mike to meet Two Tone and Slow. They tricked him into showing them his ability to open locks. Tyso arrived back at the Lab. Two Tone blackmailed Mike into helping them break into the National Victoria Bank by opening the locks and overriding the alarm systems. When Mike opened the bank's vault Two Tone and Slow went in, Mike closed the door behind them, he laughed. John, Elizabeth and Stephen picked up his laugh telepathically. They decided not to try to contact him telepathically to try to reduce the problems of breaking-out. A police Inspector released Two Tone and Slow from the bank vault, they refused to tell him what had happened. The next day Mr. O'Reilly asked Mike to his flat, Lord Dunning wanted to meet him.

John and Stephen jaunted to the bank vault, they discovered that physco-kinetic energy had been used on the vault door. Using their contact with the Prime Minister they arranged a meeting with the Inspector. Lord Dunning threatened Mike's family, Mike used his telekinesis to frighten Lord Dunning, who left. Two Tone and Slow were brought to the Inspector's office. John interrogated Two Tone and Slow. John, Stephen and Elizabeth visited Mr. O'Reilly. He told them that Lord Dunning had kidnapped Mike, his mother and sister. The Inspector took John, Stephen and Elizabeth to Lord Dunning's country house. Lord Dunning denied any knowledge of Mike. Lord Dunning and his thugs visited Mr. O'Reilly. Mike, his mother and sister were locked in the cellar of Lord Dunning's house, but were left unguarded. Mike opened the bolt on the door and they escaped. Lord Dunning ordered everyone to search for them. Mike waved down the Inspector's car, before Mike could tell him what was happening Lord Dunning and his butler Thwaites created a diversion. Two or Lord Dunning's men recaptured Mike, his mother and sister. The Inspector called Tim on the special telephone number. He told them that he had seen Mike on Lord Dunning's estate. The Inspector organised a raid on Lord Dunning's house.

Lord Dunning protested at the raid. Mike heard some commotion and decided to open the bolt on the cellar door, a guard was outside with a gun. Mike told the guard that he had stopped the gun from firing, he persuaded the guard to pull the trigger, the gun fired. This alerted everyone, and they released Mike, his mother and sister. John told Mike and the Inspector that they could not prosecute Lord Dunning as it would draw attention to Mike's ability. Stephen taught Mike to jaunt, they had decided to leave the telepathy to last. Mike was still upset about Lord Dunning getting away scot-free. Mike went to see Lord Dunning. He offered to go into partnership with Lord Dunning. Stephen went to look for Michael, he wasn't at home. Stephen saw him getting out of Lord Dunning's Rolls Royce. Stephen brought Mike to the Lab. They confronted him about Lord Dunning., he refused to tell them what was happening and jaunted away. John planted a bugging device on Lord Dunning's Rolls Royce so Tim could track him. The Inspector received a tip-off. Mike arrived at the American Union Bank and opened the outer door. Lord Dunning and Thwaites arrived and went in, followed by Mike. The Inspector followed them in. Tim tracked Lord Dunning's Rolls Royce to the road behind the bank. Mike had taken Lord Dunning and Thwaites to the bank vault, and opened the door. They all entered the vault. The Inspector tried to arrest Lord Dunning and Thwaites, but Thwaites threatened to shoot Mike. Mike jaunted, the Inspector fainted. John, Stephen and Elizabeth jaunted to the vault and stopped Lord Dunning and Thwaites making an escape.

Tim detects a signal from a drifting shuttle craft. John and Stephen jaunt to investigate. Inside they find a young humanoid. Stephen fetches a matter transporter, and they take him back to the Lab. The alien is called Kwaan. He tells them that he left the father-ship to get help from his homeworld of Regoraa. Mike jaunted to the spaceship. Kwaan communicated with Tirayaan, who sent power to the shuttle craft. Mike heard the voice and went in to the back room of the shuttle craft, and collapsed. John, Stephen and Kwaan returned to the shuttle craft. Stephen found Mike. Kwaan told them that the ship had drifted too far off course and that he would not be able to return to Regoraa, he decided to return to the father-ship. John told Elizabeth the they were going to try to help the father-ship. Elizabeth said Tim may not be able to jaunt them back as they were in a force field. Kwaan told them that the father-ship was trapped near a hole in space. As they approached the father-ship they lost communication with Tim and Elizabeth, and they were unable to jaunt.

Elizabeth jaunted to the spaceship with a box. Kwaan connected it to the power system on the ship. The box was a link to Tim. He told them that they could not jaunt back to Earth until they find a solution to the force field, possible on the father-ship. As they approached the father-ship they saw the hole in space. When they met Tirayaan he told them that the father-ship would be dragged into the hole in two days. The father-ship had also been taken over by Vektaan as part of a plot to take control of the their homeworld. Vektaan stormed into the room and captured the Tomorrow People, Kwaan and Tirayaan. John and Stephen offered their help to Vektaan to save the father-ship. John, Stephen and Tim worked on the bridge of the ship. They returned to the holding cell. They confronted Tirayaan. He admitted that he had set the ship on the course and setup the instruments to hide it. John told Vektaan that he could save the father-ship if all the prisoners were put onto the shuttle craft, with enough power to get them back to Earth. Vektaan launched the shuttle craft and John returned control of the father-ship. Tim jaunted John and himself to the shuttle craft. Tim's box did not survive. Vektaan had tricked them, he had programmed the small ship to fly into the hole.

In the Lab Tim told Tyso that Timus was on his way. As the shuttle craft approached the hole the temperature in the ship dropped. The father-ship watched as the shuttle craft entered the hole. Inside the hole the shuttle craft maintained a slow but straight course. Behind them they could see the hole getting fainter. Timus arrived at the Lab. He boosted Tim's power and they were able to locate the shuttle craft in the hole, but the picture quickly faded as the it moved further into the hole. Timus was recalled to the Galactic Federation to report on the hole. A hole appeared directly in front of the shuttle craft. They noticed that their watches had stopped, even though they had been there for seven or eight hours. The shuttle craft slowed down and the reactors started working again. They decided to continue forward.

As they approached the hole they saw stars. On the father-ship they saw the shuttle craft emerging from the hole. The Federation relayed pictures from the hole to Tim and they saw the shuttle craft emerging from the hole. Tirayaan told them that they had travelled in a circle, and that it had only been a few minutes since they entered the hole. Vektaan said they had abandoned their rebellion and wanted them to return to the father-ship. They thought it was a trap. Tirayaan tried to contact Vektaan. The father-ship fired at the shuttle craft, one of the bolts entered the hole, and returned a few seconds later and destroyed the father-ship. They returned to the Earth.
